wutong吴

in shanghai, the plane trees that line the old french concession are called 梧桐, wutong. london’s streets are lined with plane trees too, and each leaf opens like a hand.

the name begins with 吴, wu, the family name behind the label, and the leaves fall just as it turns cold enough for gloves.

we make gloves in nappa leather, suede and calf hair, in small runs of each colour, all in one size.

不来也不去: leaves come and go, and the tree stays.

every order is dispatched tracked from the uk the next business day, delivery is free within the uk, and you can return your order within 14 days of delivery.

terms of sale

last updated 12 october 2026

these terms apply when you buy from wutong on this website. please read them before you order, together with our delivery & returns and privacy policy. nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer.

who we are

wutong is a brand of common room limited, a company registered in england and wales (company number 16617414, registered office: london n1, united kingdom). you can reach us at contactwutongstudio@gmail.com.

the gloves

we describe and photograph every pair as accurately as we can, but nappa, suede and calf hair are natural materials, so grain, markings and shade vary slightly from pair to pair, and colours can look different on different screens. every style comes in one size.

prices and payment

prices are in pounds sterling and include any taxes we’re required to charge. delivery is added at checkout and shown before you pay, and any import duties or taxes due when an order arrives outside the uk aren’t included (see delivery & returns).

you pay through our payment provider, stripe, when you place your order. checkout may offer to charge you in your local currency, and if you choose it, the amount shown in that currency is what you pay and any refund is made in the same currency.

promo codes are entered on the payment page, one per order, and can’t be exchanged for cash.

if a price on the site is clearly wrong, we may cancel the order and refund you in full.

your order

placing an order is an offer to buy the gloves in it. we accept it, and our contract begins, when we email you to confirm it, and your receipt is that confirmation.

each colour is made in a small run, so very occasionally a pair sells out after you’ve paid. if we can’t send all or part of your order, we’ll tell you and refund what you paid for it in full. we may also decline an order we believe is fraudulent or that we can’t deliver.

delivery

we dispatch orders tracked from the uk the next business day. delivery times are estimates, not guarantees, and our delivery & returns page sets out rates, times and import charges.

the gloves become yours, and your responsibility, once they’re delivered to the address you gave us. if an order is lost on its way to you, we’ll send a replacement or refund you in full.

changing your mind

if you live in the uk or the eu, you have a legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of the day you receive it, without giving a reason, and we give customers everywhere else the same 14 days.

to cancel, tell us within those 14 days by emailing contactwutongstudio@gmail.com. you can use the cancellation form at the end of these terms, but you don’t have to.

send the gloves back within 14 days of telling us, to the address we give you. you pay the cost of returning them unless they’re faulty or not what you ordered.

we’ll refund what you paid for the returned gloves, plus the delivery charge if you return your whole order, to your original payment method within 14 days of receiving them back or of you showing us proof that you’ve sent them, whichever is sooner. if you used a promo code, we refund what you actually paid.

you’re welcome to try the gloves on as you would in a shop. if they’ve been handled more than that, for example worn outside, marked or stretched, we may reduce your refund to reflect the loss in value.

faulty or incorrect gloves

if your gloves are faulty, damaged or not as described, you have rights under the law where you live, and we’ll pay to have them sent back to us. email us a description and photos.

in the uk, the consumer rights act 2015 says goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. if they aren’t, you can reject them for a full refund within 30 days of delivery; after that you can ask for a repair or replacement, and if that isn’t possible or doesn’t work, a price reduction or refund. you have up to six years to make a claim, or five in scotland.

in the eu, you have a legal guarantee of conformity for at least two years from delivery.

in australia, our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the australian consumer law. you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. you are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

in new zealand, you have rights under the consumer guarantees act 1993.

normal wear and tear, and damage from accidents, misuse or not following our care guidance, aren’t faults.

our responsibility to you

if we break these terms, we’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that’s a foreseeable result of that, but not for loss that isn’t foreseeable. we sell for private use only, so we’re not responsible for any business losses.

nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.

events outside our control

if something outside our reasonable control, such as a carrier failure, a strike or severe weather, delays or prevents your order, we’ll tell you as soon as we can, and you can cancel for a full refund of anything you haven’t received.

your personal information

we use your details to take payment, deliver your order and look after you, as our privacy policy explains.

changes and other things

we may update these terms from time to time, and the version on this page when you placed your order is the one that applies to it. if a court decides part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. only you and we can enforce these terms, and we may transfer our rights to another business, which won’t affect yours.

law and disputes

these terms are governed by the law of england and wales. if you live elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts. if something’s gone wrong, please email us first and we’ll do our best to put it right.
