in shanghai, the plane trees that line the old french concession are called 梧桐, wutong. london’s streets are lined with plane trees too, and each leaf opens like a hand.

the name begins with 吴, wu, the family name behind the label, and the leaves fall just as it turns cold enough for gloves.

we make handmade gloves in nappa leather, suede and calf hair, in small runs of each colour, all in size 7.

they are worn on the way there and the way home, which is when it is coldest, and they are the first thing people see at the door. a party outfit often has no warm layer that looks right. gloves fix that.

why fringe in the evening?

fringe is made for movement. at rest the 008 fringe hangs. lifting a glass, the black, tan and cream threads separate.

what goes with velvet and sequins?

- *velvet:* black nappa is quieter than velvet, so the two don't compete. 008 or the 001 fringe gloves, black on black.

- *sequins:* let the dress shine and keep the gloves matte: 001.

- *a plain black dress:* the 005 plum python-print gloves, plum suede with python printed on, not real, add the colour.
